Culture Night 2021 at DCU
Friday 17 September: 6pm, 7pm, 8pm
Cregan Library, DCU, St Patrick's Campus

GlasDrum presents Code of Behaviour in partnership with DCU Library and DCU Arts & Culture.

Code of Behaviour bring their joyful energy to DCU St Pat's Campus for Culture Night. The unstoppable 8-piece brass band from Cork are real crowd-pleasers who play an eclectic mix of everything from Abba, to New Orleans standards, to original tunes.

They will play two lively outdoor performances along the Lime Tree promenade outside Cregan Library at 6pm and 7pm

At 8pm, inspired by the musical performances from balcony to balcony in Italy during the first Covid lockdown in Italy, they will deliver their last performance from the balcony of Cregan Library, allowing the music to resonate onto the Drumcondra Road for local restaurant-goers and passersby to enjoy.

Balcony Music
Monday 20 - Thursday 23 September: 7pm
Cregan Library Balcony, DCU, St Patrick's Campus

GlasDrum are delighted to continue their partnership in Balcony Music with DCU Cregan Library.

Launched with the Cork Brass Band Code of Behaviour on Culture Night, Balcony Music will continue with solo performances from the balcony at 7pm each evening from Monday 20th to Thursday 24th of September. As you go about your evenings the resonating sound of trumpeter Will Palmer (Dublin Brass) and French Horn Bethan Watkeys (RTENSO) will fill the air.

We've called it Balcony Music to remember the first Covid lockdown in Italy when music sustained the community in performances from balcony to balcony during the height of the raging pandemic. It also connects with the heritage of brass performances from civic buildings once part of the fabric of European towns where civic authorities employed musicians to play from the town hall balcony or the highest church or watch tower to mark annual days and significant occasions. And what could be more significant than bringing live music performance back into our lives, creating a pause to remember the challenges we have all be through and celebrating the return of students to the campus in the first week of the 2021/22 academic year.
We hope you and the community will stroll by and enjoy one of the performances.

We invite you to SAVE THE DATE for this year's Winter Chamber Music Festival with the Fidelio Trio 26th-28th November.
